Sanctuary of Our Lady, Patroness of Families
The origin of this place is shrouded in legend. In 1382, Prince Władysław Opolczyk, returning from Ruthenia with his entourage, was transporting the icon of the Black Madonna to Częstochowa. The summer was exceptionally hot, and the local streams had dried up. Desperately searching for water near what is now Leśniów, the Prince humbly prayed to the Virgin Mary and was granted grace, as a plentiful spring suddenly gushed forth. It quickly spread, forming the Leśniówka stream, which still exists today. Władysław Opolczyk ordered the construction of a small chapel next to the spring, made from larch wood posts. He placed in it a beautifully crafted figure of the Madonna with Child, known as the Madonna with the most beautiful smile in Poland. The Gothic statue is an object of vibrant veneration. Numerous physical and spiritual healings occur at the Leśniów Sanctuary. The Pauline Fathers have been caring for the Religious Center for 300 years.
The sanctuary and monastery are surrounded by a beautiful garden, inviting visitors to a spiritual encounter with the Virgin Mary, reflection, and relaxation.
